Celebrating 50 Years of Softball: Ventura Girls Fastpitch Marks a Golden Anniversary

Formerly Tri-Valley Girls Softball – A Legacy of Empowerment, Community, and Sportsmanship

Ventura, CA – September 1975 to 2025 — What started as a small community league in 1975 has grown into a cornerstone of youth sports in Ventura County. Ventura Girls Fastpitch (VGF), formerly known as Tri-Valley Girls Softball, proudly celebrates its 50th Anniversary this year — a milestone that reflects decades of dedication to empowering young athletes, building community, and fostering a love for the game of softball.

From its humble beginnings with just a few teams and volunteers, the league has evolved into a thriving organization serving hundreds of girls annually, ranging from T-ball through competitive fastpitch travel teams. Throughout the years, VGF has remained committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and positive environment where girls can grow not only as athletes but also as leaders, teammates, and individuals.

“It’s more than just a game — it’s about building confidence, teaching life skills, and creating lifelong friendships,” says Gene Taminish, League President, who has been involved with the league for many years.

A Legacy of Growth and Change

Originally founded as Tri-Valley Girls Softball, the league rebranded to Ventura Girls Fastpitch to better reflect its home community and the evolution of the sport. With the support of countless coaches, parents, board members, and sponsors over the years, the league has continued to grow in both size and reputation.

Many former players have gone on to compete at high school, collegiate, and even professional levels — but no matter where life takes them, VGF alumni carry with them the values instilled on and off the field.

Anniversary Events and Celebrations

To honor this incredible milestone, Ventura Girls Fastpitch is planning a series of 50th Anniversary events, including:

  • Anniversary Celebration Day with food, music, games, and alumni recognition on our Spring opening Day in February 2026.
  • Alumni: bringing together past and present players
  • Community Appreciation Night to honor sponsors and volunteers
  • Commemorative Merchandise featuring retro and current league logos will be available

Details for these events will be announced soon on our website and social media pages.
